CALL FOR Applications for the “Catherine Wurster” Scholarship

The EANS Foundation has opened applications for the Neurosurgical Scholarship “Catherine Wurster”, established in memory of Dr. Catherine Wurster (1997–2024), a promising young neurosurgical trainee at the University Hospital of Geneva.

The scholarship is designed to support young neurosurgeons and initiatives that advance the field of neurosurgery, offering €20,000 to enable ambitious projects.

Projects may last 12–24 months, giving recipients the flexibility to pursue meaningful work and advance their careers.

Eligible projects include:

  1. Completion of a degree in neurosurgery,
  2. Extension of a neurosurgery degree through a recognized master’s program, such as Public Health,
  3. Additional support for a fellowship abroad,
  4. A humanitarian project.

About Catherine Wurster

Catherine Wurster, affectionately known as Nini, was a young neurosurgical trainee at the University Hospital of Geneva. She was a passionate and empathetic medical doctor who left a profound mark on her patients, peers and mentors. She tragically passed away at the age of 26 succumbing to traumatic brain injury after an accident in the Alps.
